As this year's award season is under way and crowds are flocking to the newcomers playing on the Great White Way, it seems inevitable that last year's sensations must say good-bye.
The Australian cult favorite, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, opened on Broadway in time for Tony consideration in 2011, and will end its Broadway run on June 24, 2012, just after the 2012 Tony Awards. Priscilla caused a stir because of its use of pre-recorded music but won the Tony for Best Costume Design.
The national tour of Priscilla will hit the road in Minneapolis, MN, in January 2013, and the Broadway cast album is still a hit with fans, where it peaked all the way at #1 on the Billboard Cast Album chart.

For tickets to the final performances, visit Priscilla Queen of the Desert's website.

Fans of Drew Barrymore's turn as "Cinderella" will be pleased to hear that Ever After is being turned into a stage musical headed for Broadway.
Three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes, Nice Work If you Can Get It), will helm this production as both director and choreographer. Ever After's music is by Zina Goldrich and book and lyrics by Marcy Heisler with music direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell. Ever After is being produced on Broadway by Scott Landis and Philip Morgaman.
Based on the 20th Century Fox Film, Ever After follows "Danielle de Barbarac," the daughter of a 16th century French nobleman, who embarks on a series of adventures involving her scheming stepmother, artist Leonardo DaVinci, and finding her own Prince Charming.
Ever After will open on Broadway in the 2013-2014 season following a pre-Broadway engagemet.

Annie, 2012 Broadway Revival

After the extended online and in person auditions for the upcoming Broadway revival of Annie, the winner of the title role was announced with a flourish. Now, the producers are giving the "Orphans" their due entrée to Broadway society as well.
The cast of orphans features Emily Rosenfeld as "Molly," Tyrah Skye Odoms as "Kate," Junah Jang as "Tessie," Georgi James as "Pepper," Madi Rae DiPietro as "July," and Taylor Richardson as "Duffy."
Producer Arielle Tepper Madover commented on finding the right girls for the show:
"We saw so many wonderful young girls for these roles. I wish we could have cast them all! The orphans are always a highlight of Annie, and we think we have an amazing, unbelievably talented group with Emily, Tyrah, Junah, Georgi, Madi Rae, and Taylor. I think audiences will fall in love with each and every one of them. We also are incredibly fortunate to have Jaidyn Young as our standby for the roles of 'Annie and several of the orphans."
The Broadway revival of the Tony Award-winning Annie will open at a Nederlander Theatre to be announced Fall 2012.
